The strong, luscious scent of death and blood was everywhere. From the very moment she entered this forest Akane could smell it. Not the best place to be for most demons. Even she could feel shivers crawling over her porcelain flesh. A wicked smile appeared on her angelic face; this was just the kind of place she was looking for.

The blood demon weaved through the trees, walking with a kind of grace that was uncommon for demons even. Blood red eyes scanned the area, though she could only see trees and other such vegetation. A normal forest to the human eye, except there were no birds, no rodents, not even deer tracks. Surely a strong demon ruled these lands. Perhaps, then, her bad luck would run out.

Her steps came to a stop suddenly. Akane stood there, letting the breeze push past her kimono and long hair. A new scent had came upon the wind, meaning someone was approaching. Her hearing strained as she listened for footsteps and, for a moment, she did hear something. Then it stopped. Perhaps the other noticed her, too? Once again her blood red lips stretched into a smile, fangs glistening in the dim light. She walked toward the unknown presence, curious to see who it could be. A demon of power, hopefully. Akane would hate to waste her time with some pathetic weakling.
